They help keep the basement much fresher. But in the cold regions, it is best to dehumify some areas which could not be reached by the heat of the sun. That way, bacteria and viruses would be eliminated too.

You can place the dehumidifier wherever you like or particular room. Closing the windows and doors will help to work more efficiency. It also portable so you move anywhere.
