I am looking for a new over the stove microwave.  The criteria is that it has to have a good light for when I cook on the stove. 

Does anyone else have the problem with their micowave~ the light doesn't lighten up the stove?
Any good brands that you would suggest?

I have my microwave over the stove as well, but I do not rely on it for lighting because our kitchen has all the lights you want - even specifically over the stove, for cooking. I just switch it on and do my work.

I have avoided over the stove microwaves because I am afraid to handle heavy, hot dishes while reaching up so far!

They look really nice, though!

We have our microwave over the stove. If you are not getting enough light while you cook just use lights in your kitchen additionally as most of the microwaves doesn't cover the light specification needed by the customers.

We have one of these. Heck if I can think of the brand (I'm at work). I bought it at Sear's, thinking it's a Kenmore. No we don't have any problems with the light. It works great.
All of these are a different size, so be sure you take measurements to be sure it will fit and there will be enough ventilation.
I love that it's not on the counter taking up space, but under the cabinet.

I have a microwave over the stove.  It's a Kenmore and it works great!  It has a light attached underneath which I like to leave on at night.  It also has a fan attached.  I don't use it for big meals--usually just to heat up water for tea or reheat a small side dish. 

Ours is a Kenmore- I looked. It works wonderful and the light is perfect. It's the one we leave on for a light in the kitchen when we aren't in the room (at night). It also has a vent that works great! so when boiling something on the stove I turn it on and it sucks up the steam.

I really don't think they are the safest. And shorter people or children could not use them safely. As for a light, I have a light over my stove with a fan.

Does this mean a microwave oven run on top of the stove? Excuse my asking. We have ours run by electricity. Is there any which is otherwise? Or not run by electricity?  :-[  As to its light problems, I believe they may just be replaced if its not lighting anymore.

I am afraid i cant relate to this..i have a microwave and a stove in separate location..not on top or anything can you elaborate more on this please??

I too feel microwave over the stove is not safest. 

Both will produce more heat.  Better avoid microwave over the stove.

I think it is not safe. We always place the stove directly under the chimney, because the heat produced by the stove will went off to the atmosphere. If you placed microwave over stove, the heat released by the stove directly goes to microwave. It is not safe.

It sounds like I have to go to Sears and get a Kenmore.  I do use the kitchen lights too, but when cooking on the stove it is much nicer if the light is directly above.

I feel it is not good over the stove microwave. If so you have fix proper heat extractor to escape from heat.

I too feel good to cook when the kitchen light is just above the stove. In my kitchen i fixed it like that only.

Over the stove microwaves are fix at 30 inches wide. The microwaves produce high temperature. Keep safety thermostat installed to turn on fan if temperature increased. All the microwaves come with an install guide follow it.
