Self Cleaning Ovens
« on: May, 05, 2009, 08:55:30 AM »
Does anyone ever use the self cleaning part on the self cleaning oven?  I tried it once and my house filled up with smoke!!!  We had to open all the window and get out until it cleared up.
Is this typical?

i have witnessed some demo on this product before. I understand the way for it to clean itself is by emitting smoke inside the oven itself. However, i didnt notice any more smoke than necessary. So that would mean not having enough smoke to make one open the windows. You better see some electrician on this one.

That is the second oven we have that does this when in self cleaning mode.  I just clean it myself now~ much easier.

I suspected that this was not so easy as they make it sound when they want to sell you the oven. :) Sounds too good to be true for the oven to actually clean itself, doesn't it?

I know about self cleaning oven but still i wouldn't try. Because I afraid of smoke and heat while doing it. I am always cleaning myself.

Self cleaning oven is designed with mechanical interlock so it keep the oven door locked and closed then cleaning itself. It take approximately three hours to complete the their work. Do not use any chemicals if you clean.

I have always wondered if these self cleaning ovens actually work and how they clean themselves ? with the amount of spills and burnt on bits I need an iron man to come in and scrape mine clean. So do they work >?
