Hot tub on the deck?
« on: March, 22, 2009, 03:59:44 PM »
We are looking to get a hot tub this year. We have a large deck and that is where my sig other wants to put the hot tub. I told him, I would rather he build a hot tub deck-- perhaps one off the back of the existing deck. The deck is new- we just put it up last year.
On our deck we have a picnic table and a swing. I'm thinking with a hot tub it would look too congested.
What are your thoughts?

Is your yard fenced? Are neighbors close enough to see what's going on on the deck? ;) I guess that's what I would worry about. :)

It depends on how big your deck is.  We have a hot tub on our deck and love it there.  It is close enough that in the winter we just shovel a path and can run to it and not have to go threw too much snow.  We also have a patio set on our deck which includes a love seat size couch and two large outside chairs with a big square table. They are a set that we bought a few summers ago.  There is still plenty of room on our deck~ we are actually thinking of somehow building a little bar area on it too.

You still use the tub in winter time anktmom? Isn't it too cold? I mean, I know the water would be nice and hot, but how about when you get out?

It all depends on the size of he deck, if it will look congested. I think building a hot tub deck would distinguish the hot tub and perhaps give it its own space.

You can have it in the place where you have the picnic table and swing. Certainly no it will look very good, I've one like this in my home. Its very beautiful.
