Pressure treated wood
« on: March, 22, 2009, 04:01:15 PM »
We used this kind of wood. We also stained it with plain water protection. Water seal. I'm thinking we will need to power wash the deck this summer. It was put up last year. How often do you have to power wash pressure treated wood?

My deck is like this but when it was new, iI constantly washed, stained and treated it so it could get a good start. Once the deck was finally healthy and began to age, it was great because I did so much work with it. I powerwash it every spring/summer.

We need to pressure wash the deck this year. It's looking kind of faded and green in some spots. I said we should stain it this year- but was told to just use the water sealing stuff again.

Looks like we will be pressure washing each year.  It is a good thing we own one.

My husband just said that he has to stain the deck again this year.  He usually cleans it first, but I dont know if he uses  a power washer.

Once he tried the power washer on our log home and it was a mess!

I would think an average deck would only need washing once a year if that.  I'm not totally sure though if it would need it that often.  Probably a good hose with a decent sprayer would do...maybe a little elbow grease on the more soiled areas.

You can power wash it every 5-6months, so that the wood would be stronger and healthier.
