When I think of overhead lights, it reminds me of some of those roadside hotels that I had to stsay in when I was working!

In my personal opinion I actually prefer side lamps. Even better are the lamps you can get with dimmer switches. They are just great for night time reading.

I think I'd prefer a source of light from overhead. Maybe a floor lamp with an extended arm that would reach over a sofa would be a good idea.

I want to address that in our place, too.

Are you going to be reading at a desk where a desk lamp will be fine?   I find it easier to concentrate with more light, so I would go with an overhead light.

I prefer desk lamps. Overhead lights will disturb others sometimes when i extend to read till late night. If you want to use overhead lights use separate room for reading.

Overhead lights is not suitable for reading. Because it disturb your eyes lot. Desk light are more comfortable for reading. It gives more brightness and concentrate to your mind.

Overhead lights are not suitable for reading. Table lamp is best as it won't disturb others sleep and also you will get full power towards your reading book.
