Locking Mechanisms
« on: February, 23, 2009, 01:24:51 PM »
We are always looking for ways to update or create more security around the home.  I would eventually like to have a six foot, fairly solid fence unless there is an inexpensive way to build a wall.  This way the view of the front of our home is blocked from the street.

Are there electronic keypad locks available for gates?

I'm sure that you could find a keypad lock fairly easily. I'd check out places like Home Depot.

Have you considered using a fob system? Our condo complex is switching to that kind of system soon.

What is a FOB system?

I like the idea of keypads for those with good memories. but I don't think I fall into that category, and keys are probably safer for forgetful folks like me!

I don't actually have a front fence at all...but we have security doors that keep people out.
Personally I like to be able to see outside my home. No surprise visitors! Mind you the front door
is always open so they know I when I am home anyway!

Wow, that sounds so scary to me- to have to put up a 6 foot fence around your home for security?
I'm sure you can just get some kind of security in your home- in case they try to break in.

A fob system is a type of locking device, but you don't need a code or key to get in.  You take your fob and swipe it to get into the locked area.

I also think it sounds scary to have to put a huge gate around your home for security.  I am use to leaving my house with the doors unlocked with no worries.

Wow I must agree, I would think about changing neighborhood :o if I needed a 6-foot gate for security. But never the less, Home Depot has everything, I am quite sure you can find one there.
