How to clean wooden floors?
« on: April, 21, 2009, 11:33:14 AM »
What do you use to clean your wood floors?  We have hardwood floors in the living room- with an area rug in the middle of the room.

I use a floor sweeper on the hardwood but sometimes it looks dirty. I use juat a mild dishsoap and mop and mop the floor to pick up dust.

What does everyone else use?

We used to have wood floors, and I did the same thing you do: sweep first, then mop. Sometimes I'd use just plain water, other times I'd add a little soap. That seemed to work well.

Old hard wooden floors look good when really cleaned. In my grandparent's house, we used to clean its floors by first mopping using tap water without soap. then having them dried. then we apply some floor wax. In the morrow, we mop using coconut husks. They would really shine so well and look neat!

Isn't that Murphy's Oil soap made for cleaning wooden floors and things of the such? I have never actually had to clean them, but I know there is a limited amount of things a person can use.

I've never tried Murphy's Oil soap.  Just plain dish detergent because it's gentle.  I didn't want to strip the floor. We spent a whole weekend sanding the floors, then treating them to make them look they way they do.

it's good to see a lot of people do the same thing.  I've never used wax on a hard wood floor.

You can use vaccum cleaner to suck all the small dust and its a good idea of using dry mob to clean. If you're using wet mob the water will damage.

It is very easy to maintain wooden floors. Sweep always with soft broom. Vacuum once or twice in a week to remove dirt.
