I would say it is very smart to focus on a strong foundation.  This is what is holding your home up.  You want it to be secure, safe and dry.

I would say this is very smart. A sound foundation is required to maintain good structure of the home. Don't skimp on the foundation, you could be headed for a disaster.

foundation is one aspect of home-building which should require a very careful consideration. however, there is no need to overdo it. just like anything, too much of a good thing is not good anymore. but then maybe these 'some people' are only doing it for contemplated future plans they have.
