Decorating for the seasons
« on: March, 24, 2009, 12:52:03 PM »
Are you one who changes your decor according to the different season?  Do you have all of the holiday knicknaks around your house?

I have a friend who actually changes her throw pillows and throw rugs in her liiving room for different seasons.  In the spring she brings out the bright colors and flowers.  In the fall it is more dark colors.

Do you have ideas on little changes for different seasons?

Well we change our wall papers color to pink during spring, green during summer and white for winter. We also change our beds and windows to these color and it makes our house more lovely.

I have thought about decorating according to season.  Since I can't afford to purchase different items for each season, I have to settle for sitting outside more during the warmer months.

Having windows opened and watching the grapevine grow is pretty much it, for me!

I love changing small things around the house for the season/holidays. I change the curtains, place mats and several other items in the dining room. I also change the rugs and flowers in the foyer. I couldn't go as far as changing the wall paper but it sounds like an exciting project.

We just change our decorations every December when it's Christmas time. So every december our linens, curtains, throw pillows are usually in the shade of green and red.

I do change decors and/or things around the house usually during christmas season and summer time! for curtaisn, i am fond of clipping small christmas items into the draperies during christmas and decorative butterflies and small flowers during the summer. for the rest of the year, it is according to my fancy - as to the color and theme!

Knight~ you change your wallpaper 3 times a year?

I do change our bedding for the different times of year.  I have a very summery looking comforter that I use for spring and summer. A darker green for fall and winter.

I actually do this too.  I have porcelain dolls that stand on a pillar by my dining room table.  She changes 4 times a year.  My table is changed once a month for whatever that month accentuates.  In winter of course are christmas decor, in summer, I use white throws, lighter airier pillows and coverings.  In spring and fall my emphasis is on nature, pastels and then of course fall colors.  It is a lot of fun.  Just doing the table makes a huge difference.  I love coming down the stairs and seeing the different seasons/ holidays.
