Help Remodeling Living Room
« on: March, 02, 2009, 03:53:29 PM »
We are interested in updating our living room. Our house is about 30 years old and I want to remove that old outdated acoustic ceiling texture and false ceiling rafters from the 70's. I would like to replace the existing wall and ceiling textures with that new knockdown texture. Along with repainting the walls and adding in new fixtures. I just wanted to know if someone knows or has a good place to get color and design ideas. We like stainless fixtures, and anything blue or gray. I would just hate to remodel without having a plan in place.

The California Textura is very nice(knockdown finish) but because I work in new homes all of the time, people are starting to go back to having a flat painted ceiling again. Again looks nice but requires more work for me for I have to paint them.

I hate to sound really stupid but what is a "knock down" texture?

A knock down texture is a spray that goes on(much like the old popcorn look), but when it sets up a bit and not quite dry, you go along the whole ceiling with a squeegee or something and drag it out which gives it more of a textured marble finish.  They are very nice.

I too have an older home which I will need to renovate...my lounge is enormous, rather like a ballroom! And like the rest of the house- more wallpaper!
I will keep you posted as to any ideas I find!

That is a great idea. Your local Home Depot or Loews can assist you in this search, they actually have techs to install this as well. This project sounds great, are you helping with this project or having it professionally done?

When remodeling your living room you always keep two things, are money and time. Planed well before remodeling living room. Focusing in what new materials are add into your room.
