Kitchen color
« on: April, 05, 2009, 01:29:08 AM »
My wife and me are currently having a quarrel what would be our kitchen color after the repainting process. I suggested something blue would be nice and she suggested green would be good. I would like to hear your suggestion on this, a third good color can also be acceptable.  ;D

Since those two colors are causing problems, choose a third that you can both agree on, but doesn't feature either color.

We've been debating between pale green and maroonish. I got so tired of it that I said, Fine, paint it red, I don't care - just paint it!! :D I give up easily in such cases. I just want stuff done.

I personally think lighter colors are nicer for kitchens, but there are exceptions as well.

I would say go to the paint store and look at other colors that enhance those colors. They even have a color (Hue) board that you can use to compare. Another great tip may be to purchase a tiny can to test out with the colors you are thinking of, just to make sure you like them one they are dry and on your wall.

I would take my time to pick the right color and something we both could literally live with. Choosing a color that you both are not happy with is headed for disaster.

It really depends on the type of decor that you're going for.  I remember watching a home design show that focuses on kitchens and the host mentioned that paint color in a kitchen should be "appetizing".  In other words, the colors in a kitchen should provoke one to cook and eat.  Hope that helps.

How about making the theme of your kitchen yellow? It's really refreshing in the eyes. The color of the walls of my kitchen is beige... but I had the cupboards/cabinets painted in yellow....which is quite nice!

Our kitchen was very dark. I really want to have a lighter colored kitchen. We had a new one, but i really wanted a darker flooring because most of the time, it can get messy down there. I like well-lit kitchens that can allow you to prepare the food without trouble, ours is still a mess.

In my opinion, any color will do as long as the hues are alright and the furniture and lighting matches the motif, Its' all good. I saw the kitchen on my Gramps was looking great for a remodel. The brown color and all the lighting is really nice and complements each other.

It may sound odd, but one of the prettiest kitchens I ever saw was painted a tomato red shade. The floors were a white rock looking tile and there was a vegetable theme throughout the room with those tomato red walls. The cabinets had a rustic look about them and the handles looked as if they were made of wrought iron. It looked very modern and professionally done.

I feel white paint looks very good with decorative flower and fruits drawing. Because I use my kitchen.

This link tells about what different colors symbolize and what physical and emotional effects it can have on the body: http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-meaning.html

Our kitchen is currently a dark blue and it makes it feel kind of small because it's already a small space.  Soon we were thinking of painting our kitchen in deep red and brown earthy tones because the theme we were going for was a coffee shop type of space.  I hope I helped.  Definitely check out the color wheel and it's meanings.

Kitchen is hot place, so need to choose cool colors for such place, both blue nad green are natural and cool colors you can go with either one on them, or get the combination of both.
