Front Loader clothes
« on: May, 04, 2009, 01:10:34 PM »
I have always wanted the front loader washer and dryers.  I was looking into buying these until a friend of mine told me that she couldn't get hers to open up.  The laundry was held hostage!  It took days for her to get a repairman over to get the door to open.
Has anyone else had problems with the front loader washers?

My dryer is a front loader, and I have never had such a problem. Sometimes you need to make sure you've closed it though - to push the door hard enough. But it won't start if the door is not fully closed, so that's not a big problem.

I've heard from a couple of my friends that have them that they tend to leak around the door.  They love them other than that.

I've never heard of them not opening- Wow- that would stink. Literally- musty and not being able to get the clothes out.

I have heard of them having leaking problems around the door as well. Something about the seal isn't that great.

I have a friend who has a pair and she loves them. I really want to invest in them. I think they are great.

Another friend of mine decided to go with the top loader but it has all the functions of a front loader---the clothes come out of the washer almost dry. It is great!

Never heard of them not opening though. That would stink.

That is why I like them too. They are supposed to leave the clothes much dryer ~ meaning less time in the dryer.  Also they are supposed to come out almost wrinkle free.  I hate to iron so I'm all for that one!

Yeah me too have the same problem, like door strucking and water leakage in front loader machine. Recently i bought top loader machine. Comparatively it's good.

I am on my second front loader and this generation of washers is MUCH better than the last. I would never go back to a top loader. My front loader uses 15 gallons per load.. the top loader used 45! Also the clothes come out much drier with the front loader, and since there is no agitator, your clothes last longer.

I have had my new washer for two years and never had any problems, but my old one was a disaster! It leaked, the tub got warped, and yes, it held my clothes hostage on more than one occasion. Still I got another front loader because I wanted to save on water and electricity. I'm glad I did because I love my new washer.

I have always wanted a front loader washer. Then I can wash my comforters without ruining them. I always have to take them to the laundry mat. I didn`t know about these problems though. I`ll make sure if I ever do get one that I also buy the extended warranty too. I do that with all my appliances.

I wonder if this situation where the door not opening was just a one time thing.

I think that the front loaders do leave the clothes almost dry, so less time in the dryer.

Also, they hold more.  It would be wonderful to wash all the comforters at home without having to shove it into the washing machine in hopes that it will come clean.

We don't use washing machine in our home. We have fixed one servant for washing clothes every day. My mum prefer hand washing  always.
