grass and dirt stains on uniforms
« on: May, 20, 2009, 01:14:04 PM »
My kids seem to always have the grass and dirt stains on their clothes. My daughter likes to sit in the dirt when they are outside--so usually her behind has dirt stains on her pants and shorts.

I wash them over and over and can't seem to get them out. Any tips? Is there some kind of magic I can use to get the stains out of her clothes?

My son is the grass stain king. Always--on his knees--and have even had it on his behind before..lol Any suggestions on how to remove these?

I use Shout for every stain. I also make my daughter take off her pants/shorts when they are stained. I put them in the sink with warm water and dish detergent.  Usually when you pre-soak them, it's easier to get the stains out.

Try soaking it in vinegar overnight if you can. Then wash as usual.  The stain will come out easily.

Vinegar really?  I never heard of that before.  I heard using vinegar in the washing machine will take the smell out.  Vinegar really gets grass stains out too?  That is a neat trick to know.  I need to pick up so more Vinegar.

All grass stains don't always come out- I think the trick it to catch it early and treat as soon as you can.

My newest favorite stain remover is OXY spray.  I spray it right on the grass stains and then throw it in the washer.  I wash the item alone to make sure it came clean before putting it in the dryer.  I think if you have dried it, then the stain gets set in.

i don't have any kids yet but my mom use stain remover when she's washing our clothes that has stains, but before that she'll wash that clothes separately, put a detergent soap on it and let it dry to sunlight, then after that you'll see that the stains removed...then wash it as usual...

Try to apply vinegar to the strained portion only and allow it to soak for 3 hours. Then gently rub it, the strain will be removed.

I think if you soak overnight it will affect the cloth material.

soaking 1 hour before washing in a warm water with detergent and then wash and apply stain remover will work for removing the grass stain.
