i don't know if this is commonly done, but i start up with the white ones and followed by the colored clothes. Next all the pants lastly Bed covers, curtains, towels. I start up with less which is the lighter one.

For some reason, I usually start with jeans. Perhaps it is because my husband wears them to work, and so he goes through a pair a day - they need to be washed regularly. Then I do whites, and then colors. Towels to last. That's just me, I guess.

I definately wash my socks first.
I just hate losing them and found that if I wash them separate and I DO count them (Very Anal about this hehehe)
I always end up with all the socks that I put in and don't seem to loose as many to the Sock Fairy

yes you should never mix up the white ones with colored and if you sometimes your white will get those colors on it.

I always wash darks first.  Then move to whites and then towels.  I hate folding the whites because of all the socks, so I try to get away with only doing whites every other day.

I usually wash first white clothes and then colored clothes lastly the jeans as for me..

I usually start with the darks, then move to medium colors, then whites.  I break up these loads with batches of towels and sheets - what I call the easy loads.  I love filling the washer but cannot stand folding and putting away laundry.

as i leave my whites to the bleach in the meantime, i do the washing on the colored first.... i do the curtains, centerpieces, sheets, towels in another day..

I wash the jeans first. Then my work clothes (dressy) then my daughters clothes (tops and things). Last thing I do is whites. I like to let them sit in the bleach water for a bit.

I usually wash everything that doesn't require bleach, first.  That way I am not worried about fresh bleach residue, if there is such a thing, fading my colorful items.

I would start with the colored ones, jeans and other things and atlast I would wash my white shirts and pants. I would normally soak them for about 20 minutes in hot water before washing them.

I think I start with the hardest to wash and the most. So for me this is colored clothes, specifically jeans, dress pants and shirts. Followed by the handful of white clothes, then linens.

To save water, I wash the white ones first so that I can still use the water for washing the colored ones. The last thing I usually wash are the pants and bed sheets if there are any.

mine is different.. i put the pants first then colored ones(working clothes and the likes) then the blacks clothes, colored clothes again(clothes used only in the house) then whites..i like the pants to dry first since its thick and it take 3 hours(since its already been spin dry in the machine)to dry outside.. i separate the linens too..but not on the same day..

I follow exactly the same ritual as yours.  But I wash my husband's socks together with jeans. He uses dark colored socks so it was not a problem.
