Growing Grapes

Any advice on how to get grapes to actually grow? We bought a couple of grape plants/vines 2 yrs ago and nothing. This year we had a frost and they are not dead
Will they come back? Any helpful hints for grapes would be appreciated.

Frost alone shouldn't kill the grape vines. It may damage the fruit itself and a harder freeze may do damage to new growth but for the most part grapes are pretty hardy. You might try some fertilizer to give your grapes a boost. Mostly just give them patience, like most fruit bearing plants sometimes they take a year or two to produce fruit.

My husband wants to grow grapes as well, we have been thinking about it for a while. I don't know how hard it would be to do here in Midwest, and our winters can be rather tough. I would appreciate tips and advice as well. Should one somehow protect the vines during winter? Maybe cover them?

You can buy grapevines to suit whatever zone you're in. I'm in Minnesota, which is a zone 4 and we have some really nasty winters. Last year I planted a couple of St. Croix grapevines and even though they're off to a slow start this year, they are coming back. You'll have to provide them with something to climb on as well.

I do know that grapes can be grown here. I am close to an area where everyone grows grapes. It is one of those towns you drive threw and can smell the grapes.
I haven't even checked to see what is going on with the grapes, but my strawberries are all over the place.

I like to plant grapes, but i am afraid to plant it. Because i thought it needs extra care and maintenance. I don't find much time to spend on that work.
