Painting walls, base coat
« on: March, 24, 2009, 02:59:50 PM »
We are painting walls in our new house, base coat for now. We are doing two coats. I hear that some do only one, but we don't think it's enough. How many coats did you do?

Two coats is always recommended. The first coat mainly makes up all the imperfections in the wall surface. It is the second coat which will really give you the smoothness required for a good surface

likewise, the first coating is aimed at checking on some breaks on the cement finish. so it would be timely filled-up with the paint....so second coating will do the purpose of really beutifyng for one...

Yes, I agree that two is a must, one wouldn't do the job. I could see a big difference between just one coat and two. The second one takes care of all those little imperfections.

Two coats is best always and the paint will last for many years. It helps to look at the outer most color seems so  brighter.

In my home i used two coat paint in the base. It shows more brighter than the single coating. So in all  rooms we used two coating. Using quality paint and expert painter to give good look to your house.

Our house is relatively new so it takes quite alot of coats, until the walls have built up a  few coats we normally use about 4 coats. I do think if using a thin paint that you use undercoat or if you are painting over a deep colour, it saves time in the long run.

We just painted my sons bedroom. We started with one coat of primer.  Then we did 2 coats of the regular paint.  I don't think that one coat covers every spot and you want it to look nice. Do 2 coats to be sure.
