Maybe you can buy the tape that you use for painting and put some tape on where you want different colored stripes. YOu would have to make sure that you put the tape on straight. Then once you paint the wall, remove the tape and you have the area to paint your next color. Again, use the tape to cover what you just painted (once dry) and paint your next color stripe.
