Squids
« on: May, 19, 2009, 10:37:45 AM »
This is a recipe you'll surely love if you're on to sea foods.

Recipe you'll only need are squids, bit of salt, garlic, onions and red tomatoes plus sugar. All you gotta do is just saute the garlic onions and red tomatoes on cooking oil. After wards add the squids, its up to you what kind of cuts you want. Then add water, let it boil a little until its broth comes out. Add some salt and sugar to your liking. Then Ta-da! That's it. Its great with rice. Yum-yum.

Calamari is one of my favorites, but I have only had it fried. I'll be sure to try your recipe next time we have Italian.
The best fried calamari I have ever had was at Macaroni Grill. Do you have a recipe to fry it?

I've never had squid or calamari. What does it taste like?? Please don't say chicken.   ;D

I'm not sure I would want to try it. To be honest I'm not even sure where to buy it. I live in Upstate NY and I have not seen it in stores.  Although I don't look usually. I'm going to look in the seafood section tonight.

Calamari is another name for squid. You can find it in most Italian restaurants as an appetizer. Usually it is fried; and has a very mild taste. It looks sort of like onion rings and to me it has it's own unique flavor. I would maybe compare it to shrimp if anything...

I'm sorry but no. We just fry calamari. You may also want to try some breading to it like some flour. Yum-yum.

Ha ha! Don't worry Kris it doesn't taste like chicken. In fact that' one good thing about it since it has a obviously unique taste that anyone would surely love. (Unless the don't want sea foods of course.  :D)

Yeah its true. Its very delicious isn't it?  ;D I don't rate it as the same as the shrimp though. I've tasted both and I don't find their tastes to be even just a bit near.

Yes shrimp and squids have different tastes. Generally, shrimp tastes better, but when the squid is cooked well (tender), it is more delicious =p.
I have tried this recipe before, and it really taste good =p.

This recipe sounds great kotosof! Moreover it seems inexpensive. I've only tried frying calamari because I don't know any other way of cooking it. Thanks for sharing this here.

I like the flavor of squid, but the feeling of it is what puts me off.  Is there a way to cook it where it doesn't feel like you're eating rubber bands?

Ha ha! I know what you mean. If that's what you want, then why not boil it for a little while to soften it. Just like when your boiling beef.

Hello. Do you know any good way of cooking calamari? And does anyone knows here why squids are also called calamari? I'm really curious.
